Requirements (Applicants coming to the Embassy in Paris)
- Valid Passport (Minimum of six months validity)
- Visa application form duly completed
- Return ticket reservation and its copy
- 1 standard passport size photo (home made photos will not be accepted)
Visa fee (payable only in cash):
- 20 Euros for a Single Entry Journey (Tourist or Business)
- 40 Euros for a Double Entry journey (Tourist or Business)
- For Multiple Entry Visas, please contact the Visa Section for ample explanation
- For a business visa, an official letter from the employer must be produced.
NB: Applications not meeting the above requirements will be considered INCOMPLETE and will not be accepted.
Applications by Post
The following documents should be mailed to the Visa Section:

NB: For this category, applicants should not buy their tickets before the authority to grant the visa has been issued. It takes around 2 months for authority to be granted or denied counting from the date the application is received by the Embassy.

- Importation of Pets
Those wishing to travel with their cats or dogs must obtain an importation licence from the Embassy before travel. This should be done at least six days before the date of arrival of the animal in Kenya.
Documents required are;
- Passport of the animal
- An anti-rabbis Vaccination Certificate
- A medical certificate from the veterinary dating less than 6 days prior to the arrival date of the animal into Kenya.
- 40 Euros fee for the licence.
- Vaccinations and other health requirements
There is no mandatory health requirement for visitors wishing to travel to Kenya, however, yellow fever vaccination and an anti-malarial treatment is recommended.
- Foreign Nationals Intending to Conduct a Marriage in Kenya
Foreign nationals intending to conduct a marriage in Kenya need to have the following documents:
- Birth Certificates
- Valid Passports
- Decree Absolutes (if divorced)
- Death Certificate (If widowed)
- Separate Statutory Declarations sworn at a solicitor’s/Notary’s Office, stating the fact that one is single and free to marry. This should bear the solicitor’s signature and Official stamp.
- Parental consent in form of a legal document for persons below 21 years of age
- Residency in Kenya for at least 21 days. If this is not possible then a Special Licence should be obtained beforehand by contacting the Registrar’s Office in Kenya.

- Foreign Nationals Intending to work, do volunteer work or internship/training in Kenya
All foreign personnel coming to work in Kenya must have an entry permit, also referred to as “work permit”. A foreigner worker’s dependants (spouse and family) require dependants’ passes. In both cases, application has to be made to the Director of Immigration services in Kenya.
Non-citizens also require Aliens Registration certificates and should obtain re-entry passes if they travel outside Kenya.
All these permits are usually valid for 2 years.
- Travellers going to Kenya for business meetings and conferences require a Business Visa. This category of traveller does not require a work Permit.
- However, for internship/training or work, it should be noted that a Work Permit is required whether the activity is remunerated or not.
- For such Permits, the company/organization receiving/sending the foreigner to Kenya should contact directly the Department of Immigration in Nairobi. The foreigner needs to have the Permit before s/he starts the Job, internship/training or volunteer work in Kenya.
