The Kenya Embassy in Paris would like to inform Kenyans in France that the Harmonized Draft Constitution of Kenya released by the Committee of Experts on 17th November 2009 can be downloaded at the Kenya Embassy website: Download file.

The Embassy highly encourages Kenyans in the Diaspora to read the Harmonized Draft Constitution of Kenya. Please note that Kenyans are invited to debate and make submissions on the draft until the 16th of December 2009. Submissions can be made to the committee of experts at : info@coekenya.go.ke. The Kenya Embassy in Paris and the Kenya Delegation to UNESCO are seeking volunteers for the Fungana Kenya Cross Country to be held on Wednesday 11th November 2009 at Porchefontaine Stadium in Versailles (78).

Volunteer duties will include onsite registration, distribution of race numbers, security, orientation, manning the Kenya stands and serving energy foods and drinks at the finishing line.

The Kenya Embassy in Paris and the Kenya Delegation to UNESCO, in collaboration with FUNGANA Association and the Town of Versailles proudly present the FUNGANA KENYA CROSS COUNTRY to be held on the 11th November 2009 from 1:30PM to 5:00PM at the Porchefontaine Stadium in Versailles (78).

The event, which consists of 4 Cross Country Races (children, youth, men and women), seeks to promote Kenya as a sporting Nation and confirm that sport is not only important for a healthy lifestyle but also for the promotion of a culture of peace and development.

Proposed activities include exhibitions, Kenyan Music, personalized diet and nutrition consultations, a magic show, Kenyan cuisine and to top it all a raffle for which the winner will go home with a Plasma TV screen.

Kenyans in the Diaspora are invited to participate in this event and show support for Kenyan Athletes and specifically those in France (who have confirmed attendance). Participants shall also support FUNGANA Association which raises funds through athletics events for Educational Projects in Kenya. During the summer of 2009, the Association's patron and French champion of 1500m in 2008 - Yoann Kowal - went to Kenya and distributed educational and building materials to three schools.

All proceeds of the event – registration, snacks, drinks, raffle tickets – shall be donated to FUNGANA association.

KENYA WEEK IN PARIS COMMUNIQUE 9th � 13th NOVEMBER 2009 UNESCO HEADQUARTERS PARIS

The Kenya Unesco Office and the Kenya Embassy in France are jointly organizing the Kenya Week in Paris from Monday 9th to Friday 13th November 2009. The week-long event will present diverse facets of Kenya through different activities to be held within and outside UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

During this week, an exhibition will showcase Kenyan Culture, People, Products, Sports and Natural & Cultural Sites inscribed on the World Heritage List. It will include multimedia presentations. (9th � 13th November, Salle Pas Perdus, UNESCO)

The Kenya-France Business Day, entirely dedicated to promoting business, trade and investment between Kenya and France will be held on the 9th November at the Paris Chambers of Commerce. Promotion of existing business relations and exploration of new trade and investment opportunities are at the heart of this event.

The Kenya Minister for Gender will be the key speaker at a conference on the theme �Women Empowerment in Kenya� to be held during the Kenya Week. Several high-level personalities will also participate in this conference.

An afternoon of athletics, fun and games dubbed Fungana Kenya Cross Country shall be held on Wednesday 11th November at the Porchefontaine Sports Complex in Versailles. French athletes and the general public will race alongside and interact with some of Kenya�s most talented and record breaking athletes.

The highlight of the Week shall be a Cultural and Artistic Evening Gala where guests will be treated to Kenyan sounds and rhythms and have a glimpse of Kenya�s vibrant fashion industry during a fashion show. (Friday 13th Nov, Room 1, UNESCO)

INFORMATION TO THE KENYAN DIASPORA IN France
«LABEL PARIS CO-DEVELOPPEMENT SUD» 2008 EDITION


The Paris City Council is offering financial support for projects initiated by immigrant associations or associations which work closely with immigrants living in Paris. It will give a total of 100,000 euros and each project will receive between 3,000 to 15,000 euros. The closing date for applications is 22nd September 2008. Meetings have been scheduled in some districts in view of assisting associations to master the rules of the "Label" and to constitute their applications. These meetings are being organised by "Projets 19" association and "La Guilde Européenne du Raid". Three meetings have already been scheduled:
- Monday 23rd June at 18h30, Mairie du 19ème, salle du Conseil, au fond de la cour, 2ème ée;tage (at the end of the court, 2nd floor)
- Friday 4th July at 19h00, Maison des associations du 13ème, 11 rue Caillaux, 75013 PARIS

About 230 women, divided into teams, are to participate in the event. They will be discovering the Kenyan wonders through sport trials in the country and interaction with the local people. French NRJ radio station is to cover the event, and air directly from Kenya during the period of the event.
