The Kenya Embassy in Paris would like to inform Kenyans in France of the 34th edition of the Paris Marathon in which 16 Kenyans are competing. Last year, the marathon was won by a Kenyan, Vincent KIPRUTO, who finished the marathon in 2h05mn47sec thereby breaking the men’s record. 7 Kenyans were among the top ten for men and two among the top ten for women.
The Kenyan Embassy in Paris as part of its sports diplomacy endeavors to be present at the main marathons in the countries to which it is accredited. Support from fellow Kenyans weighs heavily in the performance of the athletes as attested by the winner of the Paris Semi-marathon in Vincennes last month. During a courtesy call on the Kenyan Ambassador by the Kenyan athletes who participated in the semi-marathon, they said that the presence of the Ambassador and Kenyan supporters gave them great motivation to win the race.
The Kenyan Embassy therefore appeals to all Kenyans in France to join hands in cheering our athletes whose performance continues to give Kenya much needed visibility. Let us all meet at the Champs Elysees at the level of Arche de Triomphe, near the entrance to RER A on Sunday April 11th at 8h30. National dress is encouraged.
Kujeni tujivunie kuwa waKenya.
